Who operates Wise Sparks

An invited pilot
Parent account requests: open now. A parent can ask for an account on this site. A Wise Sparks administrator reviews each request personally, unless it carries a valid invitation code, from us or from a parent already with us, which approves it at once. An approved parent can then add their own child, from grade 3 to grade 12, and is connected to that child as their parent or legal guardian.
That is a deliberate limit while the experience is still being shaped with the people using it.

What a learner’s account holds
A name, a chosen grade, the school or home-learning setting they enter, saved practice, Spark tickets, companions and chosen themes.
It holds no caregiver phone number. We used to ask for one for kindergarten to grade 2; nothing in the platform ever used it, so we stopped asking and removed the ones we held. Where a caregiver completed setup for a younger learner, we record only that they did: a tick, not a phone number.
On this site a new learner account starts at grade 3, whether the learner signs up, a parent adds them or a school sends a class list. Kindergarten to grade 2 is not open to new families yet, and accounts already open keep their saved work.

Who can see a learner’s work
The learner. Adults connected through an approved learning relationship: a parent sees a child after that connection is accepted, not because they share a surname, a household or an email domain.
And the Wise Sparks administrator, who can reach any account. That access exists so that a family can be helped when something goes wrong, and we would rather tell you it exists than let you assume it does not.
A school a family connects with sees the learner’s name, grade and class, and their practice only if the family chooses to share it.
Teachers a parent approves: open now. A teacher sees a learner’s name and grade, and nothing else, only after that learner’s parent or legal guardian approves. That family can also choose to share a weekly practice summary with that teacher, and stop at any time, and any of them can remove the teacher at any time.
Built into the platform A parent sees a child’s work only through an approved family connection that includes learning access. The Wise Sparks administrator is the one exception, as this card says.

Backups hold the same information
The database keeps automatic backups for 14 days and can be restored to an earlier moment within them. They are kept in one region, with no copy in a second region.
Anything in your account is in those backups while they last. A report file that is removed can still be recovered for a short window before it is gone. A restore drill is being prepared and has not been run yet.

School results stay separate
Official school results keep their own scales and are never blended with practice. A practice score is never presented as a test score, and a test score is never inferred from practice.

Connections are granted, not assumed
An adult asks, the connection is reviewed, and access is recorded with the scope it was given.
Learning access and school access are separate permissions. An adult can hold one without the other.

And they can be withdrawn
Disconnecting takes effect immediately and is recorded rather than erased.
The learner keeps their account, their saved work and their Sparks. Only the adult’s view ends.
Where AI is used, and what it cannot do

Some invited learners have AI help and some do not, so sign in to see whether yours does. It is on for a learner only when it is set up, switched on in the platform and given to them through a plan or by the owner, and nobody has turned it off for them: their parent can, and so can the Wise Sparks team.
When it is on, the AI chooses one of Wise Sparks’ prepared teaching moves for the question and never writes its own words to a child. Without it, a learner can still use the prepared hint guide, written in advance.

The family copilot is on for a parent only when it is set up, switched on and given to that parent through a plan or by the owner, unless the Wise Sparks team has paused it. It chooses a prepared guidance card about one connected child, and writes no reply of its own.
The report reader works only for adults the owner allows, and only when one of them asks it to read a particular report. Nothing is read or summarized on its own.
When it reads a report, the report is sent to the model provider in full: its pages, and the name and school printed on them. The learner and family question lanes take those details out of the question first; the report lane cannot, because the report is the thing being read.

For the administrators the owner allows, within daily and monthly limits the owner sets. It works from read-only lookups of counts, statuses and queues, never children’s names or private messages. Every request is recorded, including the ones that fail.
It can also do standing duties, such as a morning brief, on a schedule the owner switches on. They use the same lookups, and anything they suggest waits for a person to confirm.

Content helpers, behind the scenes
When the owner switches them on, two helpers work on a schedule: one checks existing lessons for a wrong answer or unclear wording, and one drafts new practice questions from lessons already on the platform.
They send lesson material to the model, never a learner’s work. Everything they produce waits for a person to review, and they never publish, change a lesson or write to a family.
What AI is not allowed to do. It cannot change a permission, alter an official result, decide that a learner has mastered something, or change anything without a person. Some helpers run on a schedule the owner switches on, but what they produce waits for a person, and a human confirms anything that changes a record. Turning a feature off is a control we hold and have tested.

What we can remove today
A report you uploaded can be removed from the report library. Disconnecting an adult ends their view immediately.
Vision, not built yet
What we cannot do yet
Wise Sparks cannot yet delete a learner account and everything attached to it. Closing an account today stops sign-in and keeps the records.
We would rather say that plainly than imply an erasure we cannot perform. If you want your family’s information removed, contact us and we will tell you exactly what is possible today.
We are building deletion properly rather than partially. Until it exists, no page here will promise it.
How we treat learning evidence

Practice is not mastery
Completing practice means practice happened. It does not mean a skill is learned, and Wise Sparks will not describe it that way.
Visits and streaks are participation, never proof of learning.

We would rather say we do not know
Wise Sparks would rather tell you there is not enough evidence yet than manufacture progress that is not there.
A change is only reported when there is genuinely enough comparable work behind it: the same grade, enough answers, across more than one day. Otherwise we say there is not enough comparable practice yet to describe a change, which is not the same as no change.
Built into the platform We only describe a change when there are at least ten checked answers in each week, over at least two different days, at the same grade, with nothing missing. With less than that, we say there is not enough comparable practice yet to describe a change, and we never report it as no change.
